Melbourne's most astute publicity consultancy. Pybus PR specialises in consumer PR and digital strategy for the fashion and lifestyle industries, retail and the luxury category.
One of 2012’s highlights at Pybus PR was a famil we arranged for Maling Road in Canterbury. The Maling Road Traders Association were finding, like so many in the retail category, that attracting shoppers was getting harder. Their advertising strategies were no longer showing return on investment and they needed to try something smarter.
We suggested that we could present Maling Road to a group of hand-picked independent publishers with large readerships and wide circles of influence. These ‘Influencers’ could write about Maling Road from their own experience, highlighting things they know their readership would be interested in. Thus began our planning for the Happy Day Trip! And that is how Lady Melbourne, Ruby Slipper, Style Wilderness, Esme and the Laneway, BusiChic, Vanity Press, Estelle la Mode, Seven Autumn Leaves, Sabina and I found ourselves in the luxuriously appointed Eileen Harper Beauty Therapy.
A little about our host…The beautiful Candice DeVille, known to her gigantic international following as ‘Super Kawaii Mama’ is at once both a key figure and an enigma in the Australian blogging scene (click here to read a recent overview of the fashion blogging space in Ragtrader, where Editd sites Candice in the top four most influential bloggers alongside 3 other Melbourne publishers, Lady Melbourne, Sea of Ghosts and Di$count). She voices a compelling argument for taking the extra time to be glamorous at all times. Not just a pin-up, Candice is a formidable international vintage stylist, speaker, model and blogger — and mum! Candice (who is coincidently Eileen’s niece and brow client of 15 years) consults from Eileen Harper Beauty Therapy. Part, part, part-time– of course!
So on our Happy Day Trip after brunching, browsing the shops and singing Happy Birthday to two in our party, we stepped into the salon to learn some introductory lessons in glamour from an absolute authority.
The perfect cat’s eye flick, demonstrated on Cheryl of BusiChic. Like all those things that are harder to execute than they look, it’s all in the wrist!
Iolanthe of Ruby Slipper after her make-over and vintage-style up do. She looks like a Vargas print come to life.

We were each invited back to experience a cleansing facial by Eileen and a vintage style make-over by Candice. Their names are dropped by many a beauty disciple on Vogue.com.au’s forums. Now we are amongst the in-the-know types that are singing their praises.
After the treatment and vintage-style make-up, a fresh-faced and relaxed PR during the maniacal month of December. What a little time for glamour can do.. Thanks for the pic Candice!
