Saturday the 12th saw 150 of Australia’s savviest fashion bloggers descend on 1000 £ Bend for the country’s first fashion blogging forum, Nuffnang Fashionopolis. And what a success it was! A whirlwind morning resulted in the rough warehouse transformed. A rustic garden of tulips, mossy tables and nests adorned with delicate duck eggs, symbolising the blossoming blogger community and the hatching of future modes of communication.  Domain Flowers out-did themselves with this floristry spectacle.

Fashionopolis presented a trove of blogging knowledge. The talented Phoebe Montague of Lady Melbourne kicked off the day by presenting a thorough run-down of the basics of professional blogging. Copyright, intellectual property and technical knowhow were tackled by the Lady propped up behind her laptop from a plush bed that formed the centrepiece of the stage design- a visual pun that was not lost on the savvy crowd.* Following lunch, the Fashion Torque hosts Philip Boon and Jenny Banister presented the remarkable Patty Huntington of [frockriter] and Sarah Gale of The Iconic. They discussed a broader view of blogging from a media and industry perspective.

Dave Krupp of Nuffnang Australia, Amber Venz of Reward Style and Kyra got down to the nitty gritty to address the question on every attending blogger’s lips: how do I monetise my blog? Each brought their perspective to the table to explore advertising, affiliate links and lateral creative content creation.

Fashion on the day was, of course, a highlight, with fur, colour and print the order of the day despite the drab Melbourne sky.

Kyra and Phoebe were both dressed by Halcyon State and wore vintage jewellery from Parisian Street Society. Chanel for Phoebe and Givenchy for Kyra. Ah the perks…
